La chambre Ruby se caractérise par une base évidée et cerclée de laiton. Sur ce cercle (appelé ici rondelle) trois segments d'un trépied viennent se fixer, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, ce qui ne rend pas facile leur installation. L'intérêt de ce système est qu'il permet une rotation aisée de la chambre autour de son axe vertical.
Elle est dotée des bascules et décentrements.
Existant en plusieurs formats, en 13 x 18, cette chambre peut se transformer en appareil stéréoscopique.
